It appears that everyone in the world of tech is talking about NFTs right now. But what are NFTs? And why are people spending millions of dollars on them? The term ‘NFT’ stands for ‘Non-fungible token’. At the highest level, NFTs are a part of the Ethereum blockchain. But for the everyday person to understand, essentially, they are non-replaceable pieces of digital art. Some people are comparing them to owning trading cards because they are collectables.

For-example, Jack Dorsey, the CEO of Twitter, listed the first-ever tweet as an NFT and the bids hit $2.5 million. On 19 February, an…

Jeff Bezo’s on stage at Amazon event

Given the current state of the world it would be very easy to assume that no business could be thriving in this enviroment. But then again if any business could succeed during this time, I’m somehow not surprised that it’s Amazon.

Indeed Amazon’s reporting that in Q2 of 2020 not only has their profit doubled over last years figure in the same quarter to a rediculous $5.2 billion, but that their net sales have also increased by 40% to $88.9 billion. …

As of January 2020 the internet connects 4.54 billion people from all different walks of life. It’s safe to say it’s both here to stay and that web development is a constantly evolving industry. However many people are still developing for the internet of yesterday, so today lets discuss some of the biggest trends in web development in 2020. And maybe one of these could be helpful in your next project.

The past year has seen YouTuber PewDiePie incorporated in a handful of creative hacks. Presumably this is because PewDiePie’s #1 spot has been threatened by Indian rival T-Series, so loyal fans have been resorting to potentially less legal means of attracting new subscribers.

The most recent hack dubbed #CastHack exploits vulnerable Google Chromecasts, smart TVs and Google Homes by renaming devices “HACKED_SUB2PEWDS_#” and by displaying unauthorized video that both notifies the victim of their vulnerability as well as encouraging them to subscribe to PewDiePie.

Despite recent reports that Amazon’s Whole Foods acquisition has been less than fruitful, the company reportedly has plans to expand Whole Foods locations across the US into suburbs and other areas. Additionally Amazon is looking to bring their Prime Now two-hour delivery service to all existing Whole Foods locations in the United States (479 stores).

The report comes from The Wall Street Journal who have been tipped by anonymous sources. Amazon has reportedly been scouting locations in Idaho, Wyoming and Utah among others across the country. …

Mark Zuckerberg’s recap on 2018 is a little bizarre to say the least. The post, which is a little over 1000 words worth, is definitely worded carefully. In fact for the most part there’s no mention of scandals in 2018. Despite this being the most scandal ridden year in the company’s history. Zuckerberg also makes no apologies in the post, but does say he’s proud of Facebook three times.

Zuckerberg acknowledges much of the established real issues that Facebook has been plagued with: election interference, misinformation etc. To Facebook’s credit they’ve made large efforts towards tackling some of these issues…

Twitter has today reduced the size of follower counts on user profiles within their apps and increased name and bio size. This follows a statement made last month by Twitter: “As we’ve been saying for a while, we are rethinking everything about the service to ensure we are incentivizing healthy conversation.” In that same statement they confirmed that they were planning on removing the like feature, which naturally amounted to a healthy level of backlash from the Twitter community.

With the success story that has been the NES classic and the SNES classic, one could only assume that Nintendo would naturally want to release a Nintendo 64 classic edition, but unfortunately it’s not only not on Nintendo’s current radar to do so, but there’s also some real challenges in doing so.

In a recent interview with Kotaku, president of Nintendo of America Reggie Fils-Aimé told the publication that the N64 classic is “not in our planning horizon.” …
